What's your favorite multiplayer mode, and why?
My favorite multiplayer mode is Match, because I love frantic free-for-alls.

CTF because of techniques, ability advantages, and that you lose them if you have the flag.

This. Provided you have enough players, of course.Filio wrote:CTF because of techniques, ability advantages, and that you lose them if you have the flag.
True.
Thats true. It is VERY boring with like, 4 people. 10 people is awesomeness.

I'd say it works the opposite way for Coop as it does for CTF. The less people you have, the more fun it is. At least if challenge is what you're after.

I only find co-op fun if it's any good mod besides Mystic Realm.
I can't say my favorite mode really, since I haven't played in months because my internet has been going down a bit recently and I've been lagging because of that, and I don't have wads that a lot of servers do.

I love playing Match or CTF, they've always been my favorite game types. Race is also fun, but a little hard at times, since I can't thok as fast as everyone else.
COOP can be fun, unless you have a map pack loaded that everyone's bored of already, or n00bs join in, requesting to add WADs that half of the players don't even have. I swear, I'll instantly boot out the next n00b who yells "ADD SHODOWRE!!!!" or "AD TEH BLU KITTTY WAD PLZ PLZ PLZ". Not everyone has those WADs. >_>

Re: What's your favorite multiplayer mode, and why?
Here are my number ratings of all the different modes:
Coop: 3/10
I'll say it bluntly: I freaking HATE Coop. It's essentially no different than Single Player, but without the challenge, because only one person needs to clear the level. There are only two ways to make Coop more interesting: Roleplaying, which is banned and leads to n00bism, or adding tons and tons of WADs, which excludes people and still doesn't have anything you couldn't do in Single Player. To make matters worse, the camera is third person and can't be changed to Analog, which is my preferred camera mode. And don't even get me started on the lag--have you SEEN what frame lag does to a non-analog third person camera? All I can say is, there'll have to be a TON of SRB2ME improvements to Coop before I enjoy it.
Match: 10/10
Match is by far my favorite mode. I just love the insane free-for-all killfest. I also think that Match is the best test of raw skill. If there's a really big Match game, and you dominate, that's something to be proud of.
Team Match: 4/10
I don't have a solid explanation for this rating. All I know is that Team Match servers always seem to be more confusing and n00bish than regular Match servers.
Race: 5/10
Race isn't a terrible premise: it's still like Match in that you're fighting against all the other players for supremacy, and I like that. But, just like Coop, I hate the non-analog third-person camera. They seriously ought to add an option to either change the camera perspective or switch to analog. But I will say this for Race mode: there are a lot of add-on Race maps that are really good. But I prefer forcing the game to load Race maps in Single Player mode. It lets me stop and enjoy the view.
Time-Only Race: 4/10
Same problems as Race, with a few extra issues thrown into the package.
Tag: 3/10
Nice try, SRB2 developers. Tag is a terrible idea in SRB2. It's just like Match, with one exception: you don't actually DO anything.
CTF: 7/10
Meh, CTF isn't too bad. Certainly there's strategy involved, and, in my opinion, it's the only decent mode in the game that involves players working together. My main beef against CTF is that if you have two really good teams fighting one another, the game can go on forever. Things won't really progress. But otherwise, it's pretty fun.

Re: What's your favorite multiplayer mode, and why?
I can see why you gave COOP a low rating. COOP is one of those game types that are best enjoyed through a private net game anyway, it's usually hard to enjoy a public one.
I don't think they'll ever implement analog mode into online, though. SRB2's net code lags enough as it is, and in order to make Analog mode functional in net games, each player will need their own camera object. Analog mode would be pointless in Match or CTF anyway.
You can actually change the camera to first person in net games, by typing CHASECAM OFF in the console. I prefer using that camera in all game types outside of single player, as it's extremely difficult for me to control my character in the third person camera without analog mode. (I love using analog mode in single player. SRB2 is one the few games I've played that has such smooth analog controls.)
I've never tried Tag mode, so I can't really comment on that.

Re: What's your favorite multiplayer mode, and why?
To solve all of CooP.
...
CHAOTIC DARKNESS! *shot*
It's an awesome mod, even though I usually only play it for the match, CTF and race levels. >.>
Anyway, I like CTF. It's just really basi but effective. Grab a flag, take it back to yours and you get a point. Then there's the flag already taken thing, but yeah. Also, the battles in Silver Cascade can really spice things up.

Re: What's your favorite multiplayer mode, and why?
I don't like Silver Cascade Zone, if only because 99% of all CTF servers are fighting on it, and I've grown bored of that stage.
